The problem

In 2024, Soft Surge began a project to build an entirely new front-end from the ground up to deliver the most powerful real estate search experience. The old platform relied on outdated technologies, with limited search functionality and a non–user-friendly UI/UX. The primary goals were to modernize the tech stack, handle thousands of listings efficiently, and create an intuitive interface for both new and advanced users alike.

Advanced Search Bar

An optimized search bar handling up to 15,000 property listings seamlessly, with auto-suggestions after three characters. Keywords convert into editable tags for refined search, and users can adjust tags on the fly.

Inertia.js Front-End & Backend Features

I built out the entire React + Tailwind UI in Inertia.js—crafting components for property browsing, bookmarking, and user auth flows—and backed it with new Laravel endpoints: • “Favorites” table + API so users can bookmark listings. • “Forgot password” and “Verify email” workflows via Sanctum. • Inertia routes for user profiles, saved searches, and admin pages.
